Encoder Setup
An encoder attached to a motor or system is a pulse counter that communicates the actual speed, direction, and position to the Commander core. The Commander core has four encoder inputs. For synchronous mode operations such as StepNLoop, the motor outputs and encoder inputs must be connected to the same axis. It is also possible to operate the encoder input in an asynchronous mode where it monitors an unrelated process elsewhere in the system. For more information on the settings needed to set up the encoder inputs, see the following section in the Commander manual:
- Encoder inputs 2.1.2.3 Encoder Inputs
A related function is StepNLoop.
