Before operating your controller, it is necessary to set up the basic system settings. This section outline these commands. Depending on your system, not all settings are needed.


The controller's flash memory stores these settings. They are loaded automatically when the controller is powered up and stored to the flash memory by using the STORE command — review Section 2.1.7 Flash Memory of the Commander manual for more information about the flash memory.


  • System Setup – Settings needed to communicate with the controller
  • Motor Setup – Settings to interface with the motor driver
  • Encoder Setup – Settings to configure a feedback system
  • Limits/Safety Setup – Settings to configure the safety-related inputs
  • I/O Setup – Settings related to inputs and outputs on the controller
