The CMD-4EX-SA-TBD, and CMD-2ED-SA have built-in micro-stepping drivers, allowing the controller to directly drive bipolar stepper motors. These controllers use an advanced stepper motor driver, Toshiba TB67S128FTG, which adds these features:

  • PWM-controlled constant-current drive.
  • Low on-resistance MOSFET output stage.
  • Stepping resolutions of full, half, quarter, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64, 1/128 step, and can be set in the software and changed on-the-fly.
  • High-efficiency motor current control mechanism (ADMD: Advanced Dynamic Mixed Decay)
  • Built-in anti-stall architecture (AGC: Active Gain Control)
  • Motor drive voltage 12 to 24Vdc
  • Motor current 0.19A to 2.3A
    • Jumper set current setting adjusted to match stepper motors from Nippon Pulse.
    • On PCB Potentiometer added for custom current setting adjustment.
  • Multi error detection functions:
    • Thermal shutdown (TSD)
    • Overcurrent (ISD)
    • Motor load open (OPD)
