The synchronization output buffer mode allows for prebuffering of synchronization target position. This allows for automatic high speed reloading of the the  synchronization target position register when in the synchronization at position mode.

For normal operation, a target position is written to the register. The next target position sent overwrites the previous position.

For buffer operation, when synchronization output buffer mode is turned on with the (SYNFO) the first target positron (SYNP) is written to the register and supplicant target positrons sent are written to the buffer registers. When the synchronization output conditions are met (counter = target positron), the next target positron in the buffer is written to the register automatically on a first-in-first-out order. This process is continued until all the buffer registers are empty or the synchronization output buffer mode is turned off with the (SYNBF) command.
