The MPG Control screen provides the necessary configuration settings to quickly establish the MPG criteria, including the multiplier and divider parameters, and signal logic settings.

Displayed information on the MPG screen (applies to each axis):

Position – indicates current position of the MPG pulse counter (MP)

Multiplier – Sets the multiplication factor of the MPG pulse input (MPM)

Divider – Divides the MPG pulse counter (MPD)

Decode – Sets the logic for the pulse input (POL, Bit 15, 16)

Direction – indicates direction polarity setting for the pulse input (POL, Bit 14)

Enable – Enables/disables the pulse generator input (MPE)

     – Resets the MPG pulse counter

The multiplier, divider and decoder all factor into the amount of pulse counts per revolution of the MPG.

Number of output pulses per revolution of the MPG = MPG Res x Multiplier x Divider x Decoder

Example:

MPG resolution is 100 pulses per rev, Multiplier is set to 2, Divider set to 1024/2048, and Decode set to 4x

Number of pulses per revolution of the MPG = 100 x 2 x (1024/2048) x 4 = 400

With a 100 pulse per revolution manual pulse generator, the settings can range from 0.048828125 pulses per revolution up to 12,800 pulses per revolution.
